2019 The Craftsman
This wine is a salute to the many generations of artisans that have worked to build and maintain the iconic Pratt House. This property was named Casa Barranca by the Pratt family who selected this site for their summer home. There is an ancient seasonal creek bed that runs through the property giving an unimpeded view of the Ojai Valley. Thus the house by the Barranca, meaning ravine or creek bed in Spanish, became Casa Barranca; for which the winery is named. Intense aromas of dark chocolate, blueberry, mint, black berry, fresh peppery salami and mulberry are married with juicy blue fruit flavors and firm tannins. This wine was aged for 24 months in French oak to soften its tannin profile. It maintains a high degree of structure that will allow it to age for 10+ years. Aaron, Allen, Scott, Chris, and Miguel this wine is for you.
