2017 Pinot Noir

Alcohol 13%
In 2017 we were fortunate to work with Duvarita Vineyard. This site is just west of Santa Rita Hills AVA in Santa Barbara County. The site consists of a steep south facing slope with a small flat step in the middle. The vines are planted close together and low to the ground to protect them from the nearly constant ocean breezes. The low planting also provides heat from the soil and aids in repining. We harvested several clones of Pinot Noir from across the upper slope of this vineyard. The intention was to make 5 barrels of wine but the fruit was cropped so low that we were only able to harvest enough fruit for 3 barrels. The clusters were smaller than the palm of my hand and had an intensity of flavor that nearly made up for the heartbreak of only producing 75 cases of this wine. This wine has been cellared for two years and is ready to drink.
Tasting Notes: Aromatic Bing cherry, light crushed limestone, and dried sage, with notes of blueberry, delicious pinot savoryness, black cherry and nutmeg. The pallet is refined and elegant with flavors congruous with its aroma.
