2016 Pinot Noir La Encantada Clone 667

Alcohol 13%
Every morning, a cool layer of marine fog blankets this vineyard. The fog burns off when the winds start to blow off of the ocean 7 miles away. This dramatic variance in temperature interrupts the ripening of the fruit which gives the wine a depth of flavor otherwise unattainable. This combined with the diatomaceous (fossilized seashell) soils and Organic farming techniques creates the terroir to grow the highest quality Pinot Noir grapes. La Encantada is certainly one of the most definitive and distinct vineyards of the Sta. Rita Hills.
2017 was a warm year bringing more concentration to the fruit but made Pinot Noir a bit difficult to farm as it began to prematurely raisin on the vine. This fruit was hand picked, destemmed, cold soaked for 3 days, fermented for 14 days in 5 separate small fermenters, and aged for 14 months in neutral French oak barrel prior to bottling.
Tasting Notes: Cranberry, raspberry, licorice, mushroom earthiness, with aromas of cherry, red fruits, deep rich wet smoke, and vanilla.
